In all our lives, we always hear of magnets in different views. Magnets are used in most quotes for everyday life whether about its natural properties, personal attributes, or spiritual contributions. Magnets are used to put things together like the door on the fridge. In music, magnets are used in all speakers. In martial arts, magnets are described as yin-yang (Chinese) or in-yo (Japanese). Some religious sects even adopted the principle of magnetism in their doctrine (Buddhism, Hinduism, and Confucianism). Even the principle of Karma can be based on magnets. But still, the effects of adopting the principles of magnetism in our everyday lives have a very dramatic effect.

As a child, our dad gave us as a gift a pair of magnets. We used it to gather metallic compounds in the dusts; placed dusts on top of a sheet of paper and make shapes using the magnet below the paper. What amazes me, as a child, was how this happened; how the dusts move according to the movement of the magnet below the paper.

Magnets, as I have found out, have two polarities; negative and positive. This is where physics comes in. Same polarities repel; opposite polarities attract. As we try to study more on its properties, let’s look on how God is related with magnetism.

GOD’S COVENANT

Ex 34:10-14
10 And he said, Behold, I make a covenant: before all thy people I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation: and all the people among which thou art shall see the work of the LORD: for it is a terrible thing that I will do with thee.
11 Observe thou that which I command thee this day: behold, I drive out before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.
12 Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee:
13 But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves:
14 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:

A covenant, in its most general sense, is a solemn promise to engage in or refrain from a specified action. More specifically, a covenant, in contrast to a contract, is a one-way agreement whereby the covenanter (a person who enters into a covenant) is the only party bound by the promise. A covenant may have conditions and prerequisites that qualify the undertaking, including the actions of second or third parties, but there is no inherent agreement by such other parties to fulfill those requirements. Consequentially, the only party that can break a covenant is the covenanter.

The first mention of covenant in the Bible was with Noah (Gen 6:18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; Gen 9:9 And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you). But the most striking was with Abraham (Gen 15:18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram; Gen 17:2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly; Gen 13:14-17 14And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: 15For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. 16And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered. 17Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.).

God have made a covenant but such was declared with corresponding requirements (i.e. circumcision in Gen. 17:10). And any violation will result for one’s soul being cut off from his people (Gen. 17:14). And through the events of time, God has seen His people’s transgression. Thus, in the days of Jeremiah, it was prophesied in Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah. And what was this new covenant? It is said in Heb 12:24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. Jesus has become the center of this new covenant. During the days of Abraham with the old covenant, the people were saved by the law. But with the new covenant, we are saved by grace through faith (Eph. 2:8)

God’s new covenant with us, Christians, is based on the teachings of Jesus Christ our Lord. (John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. John 14:7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. John 14:12-15 12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. 13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. 15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.) Jesus was telling us that God has promised us great things and these things our God will give ONLY if we believe on Jesus Christ.

One of the greatest promises of Jesus was in John 14:21 where He said that if we have His commandments and keep them, He will manifest Himself to us. Manifest means to make evident or certain by showing or displaying; to demonstrate or exhibit. It means that Jesus is going to demonstrate His authority and power to us! Thus the secret of blessings is on the new covenant that God has given us through Christ Jesus our Lord. Consider the following: If we want blessings, Jesus must manifest Himself to us. If we want Jesus to manifest Himself to us, Jesus must love us. If we want Jesus to love us, the Father must love us. If we want the Father to love us, we must love Jesus. If we want to love Jesus, we must keep His commandment. If we want to keep His commandments, we must have them. If we want to have them, we must study and have the PURE WORDS of God. This is where 2 Timothy 2:15 steps in. “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” The key word here is “study”. This is where magnetism begins.

STUDY GOD’S WORD TO ACHIEVE POSITIVE MAGNETISM

In the yin-yang principle (or the positive and the negative side principle), the positive represents light while the negative represents darkness. To us, Christians, being positive is being with God’s side and being negative, well, that falls on the devil’s side. Now, if this is the case, God then represents the positive polarity and the negative polarity is with Satan.

The world as we know it was made by God but controlled by Satan because of the sin of mankind. As described in Matt 4:8-9 8Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me, where Satan was tempting Jesus Christ. Also in John 14:30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me, where Jesus was talking with His disciples. Thus all the things of the world (even us) became negative because of the touch of Satan’s hands.

Going to the principle of magnetism; opposite polarities attract and same polarities repel. Now, Satan being negative attracts positive things; meaning that he doesn’t need those who are already his. What he tries to get are God’s people (positive). Satan is ever inclined (in this case, hell-bent) on taking as many positive souls with him as he can so that he will have plenty of company in hell. Talk about obsession.

God, being positive, attracts negative things (Luke 5:31-32 31And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. 32I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance). Thus God gave His begotten Son for us that whosoever believes on Him will be saved. Does this mean that once we are pulled on God’s positive side, He will no longer magnetize us? Note: if you try to rub a metal object to a magnet, that object inherits some of the magnetic properties of it and thus becomes a magnet itself (for the time being). If the object losses its magnetism, it needs to be rubbed again on the magnet to attain magnetism. Thus, Christians, once engulfed in the presence of the Lord, will achieve positive magnetism because of God’s words and love (Matt 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect; Phil 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God; 1 Peter 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy).

Consider the relationship of a child and a loving father: if a child is afraid, say thunder, the child will seek the comfort of a father. Once the father embraces the child, the child gains courage, strength and comfort. After a period of time, the child will release himself from his father’s embrace because he gained his father’s confidence, strength and courage. If the child ever loses that which he have gained, he will go back to his father’s embrace and take comfort. That is the whole meaning of being magnetize.

Christians, thus having positive magnetism, attracts negative things. What are these negative things? ALL THE THINGS IN THE WORLD! If you are in a financial crisis, go to God, read His Word, believe on Jesus and achieve positive magnetism. Thus, you will attract negative things from this world that the devil has touched; finances, houses and lots, cars, material things but don’t forget the most important thing - lost souls. Once you attract negative things (unholy things), these things become holy because you are holy (Acts 10:15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common; 1 Thess 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you; 1 Cor 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God). Thus, all things become clean to those who are clean (John 15:3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you). What one calls bad, God can make it good. Before, using an electric guitar and drum-sets in the church was considered evil; due to the fact that these instruments were used by satanic band groups. But now, almost all churches use these instruments because it brings glory to God. Remember it is not what is magnetized but the magnet that matters. Tell me who your magnet is and I’ll tell you who you are.

So how do we retain this positive magnetism? Study, my brethren; that’s the keyword. 2 Timothy 2:15 must be your guide. Why? In John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free, it clearly state to “know the truth”. How will you know the truth if you will not study? Thus, the one who is truly magnetized with God’s positive love is those who love and study the word of God.

But what about back-slidden Christians? These are Christians with positive magnetism but were overwhelmed with negative things and forgot to recharge their magnetism. In Gal 6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted, Christians were warned to watch themselves, to consider their strengths, weaknesses and magnetism; whether they are fit to absorb or not (also in Exodus 34:12 Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee). What then shall we do to avoid such snare? Joshua 1:8 states, This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success, meaning that we must recharge on God’s pure words not on a daily basis but twice a day and it must always be confessed or declared.

HOW MAGNETISM WORK IN OUR LIVES

In Phil 1:6, it states, Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. God’s positive material is “good works”. He has begun a good work on us since we received Jesus Christ as our God and Saviour. Even in Eph 2:8-10 8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. It states that salvation is by grace through faith and not good works. We were drawn unto the positive magnetism of the Lord that God Himself began a good work on us. As saved Christians, it is our turn to magnetize using the same good works that was shown to us. What is this good work? It is our confession of God’s love (Rom 10:9-13 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved), and our obedience to God (Matt 28:18-20 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen).

Brethren, magnets are used to magnetize. It is neither for display nor for keeping. Its main properties are to be used to magnetize; just as Christians were saved to be used by and for God unto good works. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. 1 Tim 6:12
