Everyday, for 365 days, we dream of things we wanted; we sometimes fantasize on those things that we even imagine it to be actually there (even though it is not). Some of us even cry out to the Lord to ask for those things; things that we wanted. Some of us wanted a brand new car; others their own house and lot; others wanted complete physical wellness; others wanted financial breakthrough; others wanted their relationship to be smooth. Whatever the wants, they are still our desires and dreams.

Last December 30, 2008, during our bonfire, we offered our “dos and don’ts” unto the Lord. We gave Him what we wanted, just like a child giving their Christmas list and tucked it near their Christmas tree. We experienced something wonderful during that night. That was a night of all nights where God met with us and accepted our burnt offerings.

Now, January 4, 2009, we are not going to talk about what we want because we did it already. We are going to discuss what God wanted for each one of us. If you are ready to know, then fasten your seatbelt because we’re going to have a ride, with God as our Driver.

God Wants YOU

I.
Yearning (God wants us to yearn for Him and His goodness)
   Ps 27:13
I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

     The Goodness of the Lord
          A.     His creation (a DONE deal)
               1.     nature
               2.     creatures
               3.     man
          B.     His blessings (a present situation/DOING)
To grasp God’s goodness (James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.)
          C.     His promises (a future expectation/TO BE DONE)
               Laying hold to His promises
Heb 6:18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
1 Tim 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

II.      Obedience (God wants us to be part of His family)
Ps 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
          A.     Certain laws are followed
          B.     Character needs to be changed not assassinated

III.      Undivided Attention (God wants us to love Him and worship Him)
Ps 145:1-13 I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts. I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works. And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness. They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness. The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works. All thy works shall praise thee, O Lord; and thy saints shall bless thee. They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power; To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom. Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.
          A.     we bless His Name
Ps 68:4 Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.
          B.     we praise His name and wondrous works
Dan 4:37 Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
          C.     we worship Him for His righteousness, grace and mercy upon us.
Ps 30:1 I will extol thee, O Lord; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.

There are three major things on What God Wants:
GO - Matt 28:19-20  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

GROW - 1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever.

GLOW - Isa 60:1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.
Matt 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Phil 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

What God Wants
By Ptr. J  Balao

And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.
1 Kings 11:38
